The main purpose of this book is to ascertain the origins and identity of the Syriacs who have inhabited this region for 5,500 years. It poses answers to questions on the number of Syriacs living in Turkey today, their beliefs, culture, customs and traditions, the origin of the Syriac language, their rejection of minority status before, during and after Ottoman rule, and their opinion of current developments in Turkey. The author gives explanations of these and other interesting or little known subjects.
